We’ve been teaching legal English for 20 years, over which time the law has changed and so has the language of the law.
The Loquitur blog will keep track of legal developments in the UK and elsewhere and ask questions and make comments about the significance of judgments and new enactments. Combined with this, we will be looking at matters relating to the English language, particularly legal English and questions of style and usage in spoken and written English.
There will be analysis, language exercises, cartoons, anecdotes, jokes – in short, anything which casts light on the law, the language of the law and the English language generally. And of course, you are welcome to submit your own contributions.
I hope you will enjoy our blog.
